how can i trade pokemon i have in my older versions to diamond and pearl when it releases eventually?

from what i've read so far, you will be able to upload pokemon from gen three games (fire/leaf /ruby/sapphire /emerald) into gen four (pearl/diamond) but not back into the older games.
so if i have a pichu on my fire game, i can bring that up to my pearl game through the dual slot function. but once it's gone to the world of pearl, so it's written, my pichu can never go back to fire

also, you will be able to trade and battle online, by using the WiFi capabilities of the DS, so it seems

well anyways i heard that it has link cable to the gameboy advance to connect maybe just maybe you could trade aint sure yet
