I just don't understand it at all. I'm American, of course, and I have never seen a Cricket game played live. Just occasionally some highlight clips on TV. Can somebody educate me?

ok i will try this for u

there r 11 players in each team, one team bats, the other balls, (which is decided by toss), the team which balls has all 11 players on the field, and the team which bats has two players on the field, who have to make runs, u can make runs by

1. running between wickets, after hitting the ball(both batsman run, but score is added to the bataman, who has hit the ball ) and to the score of the team as well.

2. by hitting the ball outside the field, which gives 4 runs

3. and by hitting sixer, wen the ball goes outside the field from top without touching the ground

the balling has to stop the bating team from scoring runs, and by taking wickets(which mean they have to get the batsman out, ),wen one batman get out, the other batsman get in, and the same follows, till 10 wickets r taken by balling team, as one batman cant play alone. the balling team can get the batsman out by severeal way, i will try to explain soem of them

1. taking a catch,

2. by hitting at the wicket(the three batten woods, in front of which batsaman stand)

3. run out

now each over consist of 6 balls, and depnding on the rules of the game, each team get specified overs, wen one teams chance is over, the other team has to make one run more than the team which batted first to win......this get very exciting most of the time, hope u got it, this is my biggest answer.

Cricket is a team sport usually played between two teams of eleven players each. It is a bat-and-ball game played on a roughly elliptical grass field, in the centre of which is a flat strip of ground 20.12 m (22 yards) long, called a pitch. At each end of the pitch is a set of wooden stumps, called a wicket. Note that, rather confusingly, the pitch itself is also often referred to as the wicket. A player from the fielding team (the bowler) propels a hard, fist-sized cork-centred leather ball from one wicket towards the other. The ball usually bounces once before reaching a player from the opposing team (the batsman), who defends the wicket from the ball with a wooden cricket bat. Another batsman (the "non-striker") stands in an inactive role near the bowler's wicket.

Hmmmm, you should use spellchecker, but you explained it well. Actually, they're batting and bowling teams. The balling comes after the game. ;)

Also, my beef or correction to the rules. I rarely get to watch cricket, so why don't they play to 10 outs anymore. To fit in with TV coverage, they now only play 50 overs each and they're done. It's not fair. BTW, does anyone know when or why the ruined the game with that restriction?
