Because it was influenced by the greed of the large industries.

Auto industry hate to change. They don't want to waste money on the R&D.

Oil industry don't want to have some other source that they can not control.

The oil company's own this country and its government. Kennedy said we could put a man on the moon in a decade. He freed up money for the exploration of space and guess what, man was on the moon in 8 years. Our flag is still the only one on there. So if George Bush was serious about finding alternative energy, how long would it take if we put the 10 billion a month into it rather then wasting it on Iraq. But I think the oil company's own him.

there has been alternative fuel since the beginning of last century ,Rudolph Steiner invented the Hydrogen engine and was assasinated for his briliance

for the moment a lot of the world is under the power of the oil companies and they will not relinguish this power until the last drop,
before turning to an engine that runs on water,

for a long time they have had the cars and the engine ,
ready for the transition.

there are solar powered cars ,many electric cars,and gas cars ,but nobody is going out of their way to promote them ,for the same reason

What makes you think they are not?

You should read Popular mechanics, or any other science magazine to realize there are several companies and universities looking into alternative fuel sources.

Imagine creating an industry that would replace oil companies!!!! The potential of that many billions of dollars will not go unattended.

For the same reasons why we still make Fords. A lot people depend on the product to to make them rich and to give others jobs. Plus the effects of green house gases on the environment and how that could lead to a major depopulation of the planet is an added incentive to these people.

Because this country is controlled by big business and labor unions. It all comes full circle and both parties have their hands in the cookie jar.

The USA doesn't do that kind of thing, but it is good that they aren't standing in the way of it, like they are with nuclear and wind power.

because then all the oil companies would go belly up along with their rich and super rich investors! and then the CEO's won't get paid millions for salary and wont get more millions in bonuses for ripping us off.
