What does everybody think of the announcers on ESPN Monday night football?

Question

My opinion Mike Turico is ok, but gees Joe Theismann seems all he wants to do is argue and keep repeating himself over and over...Does he like listening to himself talk...Geeessss.

And the other guy, whatever his name is, reminds me of Dennis Miller from ABC when he did MNF, didn't know a darn thing about football, but kept on a talking...sort of like this other dude on ESPN.

If the ability to talk, and talk, yet say nothing were the criterion for excellence in sports broadcasting, those three along with the brain dead bim, would win an Emmy. They are terrible. They chit chat during plays, they whine about the calls, they jibber jabber about trivia. What they don't do is call the game. The only solution that I have found is to find the radio broadcast and turn off the TV sound. What that team needs is a Dick Butkus or a Mike Ditka to tell them to shut the f*** up when there is some action on the field. The Patriots had a big play going while the female announcer was talking about the positioning of the lockers in the Minnesota clubhouse. Think about how Butkus would have handled that and try to keep a straight face.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. And the food aint so hot!
Tirico is ok at best. Theisman is oftentimes irritating. Though he was better on Sunday night football.
Kornheiser is a sportswriter and has a rep as an intelligient wise cracker, not horribly different than Miller. But he makes me long for Dennis Miller!
I think this group is terrible together, its irritating.
I also think Sunday night football with Michaels and Madden blows them away. And that rocking intro with Pink is hot!
I would be suprised if this group stays together next year. But MNF has great ratings, because of some good games, football itself is the show, not the announcers, but these guys are brutal!

I agree with you on Joe Theismann, and Mike Turico, but Tony Kornheisner (spelling??) knows nothing? I beg to differ on that. He can actually talk circles around the other two, and he never played the game! And if you listen to him, he makes fun and takes shots at Joe Theismann all the time! I love him for that.

But other than that, I really don't listen to them too much. I watch the game, and rarely get to listen over the crying and babbling of my year old daughter. . .

IF I watch MNF, I turn off the sound on the television.
I cannot stand the sound of Theisman's voice, and I hate Kornheiser! The other guy is okay but the first two make it too hard to listen! Who needs announcers?

Give me Al Michaels any day! I agree, I am still not used to these guys. I thought that I would be by now, but all they do is argue. Madden at least talks about the game and makes it interesting for those "not so savvy to the game of football". I agree, they need a better crew.

Mike Tirico is really good. I've never cared for Theismann, but Kornheiser is great. Tony Kornheiser is the third guy in the booth, he is very amusing, even though he always stays up past his bedtime.

Tony Kornheiser is getting better, like he's becoming more comfortable being himself. He's the only guy there with the combination of wit and knowledge.

Theisman just rambles, but he's always done that.

Turico is the straight guy, just the facts.
