There are several reason why Detroit is not a great place to live;

2. Government that does not listen to your concerns or take your suggestions
3. Living in the city is very expensive
4. Not too much entertainment in the city other than sporting events and the casinos

using fact the american vehicle stood no possibility against greater useful working, low-value foriegn autos. the city became thriving off of the vehicle marketplace, and whilst GM did thier astonishing shrinking magic trick years in the past, it left hundreds in Detroit unemployed. whilst human beings don't have money, crime rises. They city nonetheless hasn't recovered, and probable nonetheless won't for an prolonged time, particularly whilst they have a Mayor that could particularly pay attention himself communicate than help his human beings. So, there you have it. Detroit sucks on account which you went and offered a Toyota. yet that Toyota nonetheless gets you around, would not it?

According the the crime stats (link below), Detroit is at least better than Saint Louis! I've been to Detroit a few times and I don't think it's that bad (although I'm from Youngstown and just about anywhere is better). Maybe I just like easy access to the casinos, though... so gamble on and forget your worries.

"Detroit has great potential". (eyes rolling)
How many years have I heard THAT. 35-40 years.
It's never gotten better since we moved here in 67.
Guess what? it's not going to until other industry/businesses come here...automotive industry as we know it, is fading. (think you're buying an "american" car when you buy a toyota or honda? NOPE) Unfortunately, a lot of the businesses around here satellite around the "not-so-big-anymore 3". So... the city itself isn't likely to fair well in the coming years.

because it's not pretty anywhere in detroit you go - everything's a nasty color, or broken, or worn down. no one's nice, everyone's grouchy. if you turn a wrong corner you'll get mugged.
