Wrap the base with plastic (split a trash liner if necessary), set the tree in the shower, use your hand-held showerhead all over, walk away, come back in about an hour, shake off any excess, remove the plastic and put the tree back.

I have had artificial Ficus and love the way they look. If yours is like mine, there is "mulch" around the base and on top of the container it is in. I took a lawn and leaf bag, slipped over the pot and used nylon wire ties to secure the fit for as much water resistence as I could get. Then I took it out side and just hosed it down with a gentle spray from the garden hose. It worked just fine and mine needed it too. Just leave it alone for a day until it dries out well before you bring it back inside.

Stick it in the shower and clean it and leave it set in the shower to dry...I clean all of my silk plants and flowers either in the kitchen sink or in the shower, in the summer I set them out to dry.

If it isn't too heavy take it outside and turn the hose on it.

Give it a good shake first, then go over it with a damp cloth.
