Ok, one week ago my 7 year old daughter got bit by a dog on her leg, one fang puncture. We ended up in the ER with an infection, which they cleaned up, left the wound open and I clean and dress it every day. My question is in regards to hard muscle. Around the bite sit, there is bruising, the entire size of the bruise is hard, like a calis under the skin. I push, gently, and it's just hard, what could this be?

Some times bites look like they are healing from the outside and not in the inside. She could have tunnelling. Take her to the dr and let him examine it to be sure this is not the case.
I know this because I used to work in wound care and this was a typical problem.
Good luck

Ouch, that sounds like it hurts.. But you shouldnt've been that close to your dogs mouth in the first place. I would suggest brushing your teeth first of all, and then gargling salt water. Why, you say? Your dog bit you in the lips. That means most likely theres bacteria on your lips and in your mouth. For the hole, DON'T touch it. If you touch it alot it will only make it worse and get infected. And we dont want that! After your done brushing your teeth and gargling with saltwater, Fill up a bag of a couple pieces of ice or get an icepack and hold it on your lips. First make sure you whipe any blood that is showing on your lips before holding the icepack against them. Then, call your doctor, tell him/her about your problem and see if they would like to call you in some medicine. I suggest SEEING your doctor in a 2-3 day time period because this may be very serious. You dont even know if its infected yet. But you definatley need some medicine for it. Hope I helped. Get well soon.

There is blood under the skin. That is what is causing the bruise. Some use medical leeches for this. Eventually the blood vessels will take the extra blood away.
