Okay, I'd really like to do a french manicure but my fingernails are pretty short. Mind you, it's only for a single event, so I don't plan on pursuing this for long. Is there any short term solutions to getting a nice shaped nail for a french manicure? What do women do for their weddings, when they want a nice manicure for their wedding day? There has to be a better solution for a temporary manicure, rather than the Lee Press-On's, right? Thanks!

You can get glue-on nails, which, when you take them off too early, pull off the top layer of two of your fingernails, which makes them weaker. If the event is anout a week away, you can start grwoing your nails out. One way to do this, and make it less likley for them to break, is every night, just lightly file them into a nice rounded shape at the top, and put a clear coat over them. This will help them be stronger. If the event is say, tomorrow, you can file them the same way and then do the french manicure yourself. An easy way to do ityour self is by using a white nail varnish and just smoothing it over the top of your nail horizontally, rather than short, small strokes vertically, this creates a smoother finish. Do all of your nails with one coat of this, then do it again, and if needed, three times, then put two coats of clear over that.

Hopfully this helped some.

Whenever I want flawless looking nails quick, i get french tips. I know it may not be the most temporary thing, but if done nicely, tips make your nails look really good, and plus after the event is done, you can remove them with alcohol. You can still get french manicure regardless how short your nails are, or you could get a nice color to match whatever you are wearing.

Well if it's only for a single event, you can still get a manicure done - they still massage your hands, push up your cuticles, file your nails nicely, buff them, and you can just get a clear coat put on.

Or you could get gel nails put on - they will give you length and last for a few weeks until you need to get them 'filled' again. When the regrowth gets to a certain lengh, you need to get them redone, if you don't, they will most likely end up ripping off, and ripping off your real nail as well - which can be painful!

i've had gel nails before. i didn't like them because you have to go back every few weeks for touch ups, and i rather not be bothered.

if you notice celeberties - they don't have fake gel nails, they have short simple nails. the 'in' nail polish color was black last month.

treat yourself to a manicure regardless if you have short nails, and if i were you, i'd skip on gel nails, i think they look kinda tacky anyway.

That's exactly what French Manicures are for (making nails look longer)! Try to grow out your nails in the meantime so the manicurist will have something to shape.

Sorry, short-term: press-ons
Long-term: gels or acrllic

You don't need long nails for a french manicure, they look nice with short nails.
good luck!

Women on their wedding day try to grow their nails out in advance... or they see a manicurist. But nail color can usually hide short nails and gets more compliments and is easier to do, but that's just me.

you can get acrylics, but they will last for a month or so and you can get them filled in after. If you dont want the nails for that long, get some at walmart and then take them off easily when you want to.

just go to nail salon and have them put on acrylic ones for you, but if you dont ant your nails damage which any nail salon would do that just go to walmart or kmart and buy those glue on nails they last about 2 days and then they come right off atkeast that way your nails will look good and go undamage and cost alot less. i used these on my homecoming and prom
