I just switched my major from electrical engineering to zoology , only problem is I have to wait till next semester to take zoology classes, I changed in the middle of the semester. So now I have 4 engineering only classes and a high level math class that I dont need. Do you think the university will let me drop them this late or something? I'm starting to fall behind in them, and if I don't pass at least 6 units I'll get dropped from financial aid. Also it will hurt my gpa badly. What do I do, I have absolutely no interest in these classes

Stick it out, sorry, I know that sucks, but, if you drop everything, you might get booted off of your parent's insurance, as well as the Financial aid.
I know my insurance makes it so that I have to be a full time student, even if I go part-time, they'll boot me. :-S

So, log off of YA, and do homework.

Sometimes you can do a late-drop this late in the semester, but ask ASAP to a guidance counselor!!!

I had a problem similar to this and I very late-dropped a class. The only "problem" that my counselor said this caused was that it put a "W" on my permanent transcripts. It's no biggie, my counselor said everyone was allowed at most 4 on their transcripts. It doesn't mean anything bad but it just lets other schools/employers know that you dropped this class late in the semester.

A problem this could cause for you is in credit hours. Are you taking other classes? Would this essentially cause you to be "dropped out" for the semester? Talk to a counselor and a Financial Aid counselor about this because that, too, could negatively impact the amount of financial aid you receive,

Most universities and community colleges have a certain date up until which of you can drop classes for a full or partial refund. Considering you are on financial aid, I would suggest just getting a tutor, ESPECIALLY for math. Because you are on financial aid, you can NOT drop the courses, as you've stated, you have to pass 6 units. You actually have to pass 75% of your classes. meaning if you have 5 classes, you will be allowed to fail ONE of them and still keep your gpa at a good level.
I would suggest going in and meeting with someone in the advising office of your campus.
In the mean time, I've posted a link to a math website that can greatly help you... you can put in a problem in the selected section and it gives you the answer, but it shows you the steps it took to get the answer.
GOOD LUCK!

Maybe if you see a counselor and if you explain your situation they will pity you and allow you to drop your classes late? If not, all I can say is stick with it this semester and just take it one day at a time! Good luck!

sometimes if you drop classes before a certain date, they'll let you drop them with no grade reported. so you can drop and your gpa won't be effected. ask someone at your university if they have a cutoff date.
