They're just trying to protect you. Have you seen Dateline's To Catch a Predator lately?

They are trying to protect you because they love you.

There are criminals on myspace that want to hurt you. They will say all the things you want to hear to get your friendship and will want to meet you somewhere to do awful things to you.

I'll have to say that the majority of people there are probably okay, but there's a certain set of people on there too that have a sickness of touching kids in places they shouldn't be touched.

Think of it this way -

how do you know if the person on the other PC is really a friend? a profile or a photo? No, it may not be true...

How do you know if he's being true with you? because he says so? No, he could be one of those sick people who is lying to you and will try to do something that will harm you.

If they are paranoid that your online identity can be abused. MySpace has picked up a little bit of negative advertisement on newspapers etc on how it is used by people for abusing kids, sexual predators etc. The actual goals of the site are being lost and the parents usually see this kind of news online. But, normal or nor would need a survey. Think you can put up one on MySpace?? ;)

Well, if you're on it constantly and not spending any time other than being on myspace, then you need to get off of it, and get a life. There are other things in life other than Myspace.

That depends on your parents. If your family is concerned about it then that is a good sign that they care about you. There is certainly very good reason for them to be worried about it. There are countless nasty people on there. Not to mention somewhat nasty pictures and advertisments.

But ya, i think its normal. However in todays western society where people love to think "its only bad if i say it is" to protect themselves and others from feeling bad about stuff parents that would be concerned about that are being pushed into the minority.

Consider yourself lucky.
