He passed away in 1997 and my sister and I never got to see the will and was told that everything had been left to his wife of 5 years. This seems strange because this is not what we were told by him and my mother. He died in Texas but his residence was in Washington at the time of his death. Thank you for your time.

You can obtain a copy of his will, if it was filed, in Washington.

Will or no will, you and your sister can contest/appeal his estate.

You need to speak to an attorney!!!

Has step-mom not given you or your sister anything? What kind of relationship has she had with the two of you since his death?
It sounds like not much of anything...if that is the case...shame on her.

Please, talk to a lawyer...soon!!! You and your sister could be entitled to 1/3 each of his entire estate.

Good luck to you and your sister.

you can check with your fathers attorney, but if your father did not leave a copy with you, or with an attorney, and it was never filed at probate by his wife after his death, She may have had the only copy of one if she had it. And if so and she is cheating you out of something, she would have long ago destroyed it.

if you know who his lawyer was then you should be able to get a copy there. you might also try the court house in the town where he lived.
