It is a clothes line. If you will look on the opposite wall you will find a place to hook the bitter end of the cord. Pull out the cord, plug it into the opposite wall, and voila ! you have a clothes line to hang the socks you just washed out.

It is for your swimwear. It is not for laundry. Laundry service is provided by placing your dirties in the plastic bag provided, or using the conveniently located washer and dryer on the first floor of the motel on the east end by the ice cold soda machine.

No one knowes this answer, it is to kerep the shower curtain from coming in to you while taking a shower. Most hotels/motels have the airconditioner return duct in the bathroom over the shower, when you start a shower havent you noticed you get attacked by the shower curtain! This string holds it back so you can shower with safe distance. If it was for drying close it would need to be much stronger and over the tub instead of the edege of the tub.
