I have an certificate in radiography. I did a 2 year program. I do not have a degree because I do not have 2 years of prereqs. However, as of now, there is no difference in pay for a degree or non-degree holder. If you ever want to be a supervisor or teach then you have to have at least a Bachelors. It really is a great field. You can do diagnostic (which is regular xray and this is what I do), you can cross train in MRI or CT, or if none of that suits you then you can go back to school to do Ultrasounds (but you don't have to go to xray school to do US). I work at a hospital. I work 2 16 hr shifts Sat. and Sun. and then off Mon.-Fri. That position is called weekend option and I get 30% and 48% shift diff for working that shift. Starting pay out of school in 2004 for me was 16.00 (I'm in Ark., probably is better other places). This past year, some grads I know where making 17.00.
Good luck to you if this is what you decide to do.
