If your live rock is still undergoing the curing process, some die-off is to be expected and this actually assists in cycling the tank. Much of the organisms dying off will rebound and return.

If your live rock is has been cured for a while and your tank has been running for more than 6 months then something else may be going on. You may have some hitchhiker sea urchins. These creatures and strip algae and coraline algae off of live rock as they consume it, and can transform portions of previously colored portions of the rock down to its bare color..
