She is probably hungry and a little disoriented.

I agree with the overtired responses. Maybe she's not really wanting to wake up and can't get back to sleep. Is her mattress comfortable ? Is she too warm ? Is there too much light in her room ? Be sure she eats well at lunch or give her some milk/breast milk/formula before her nap, and maybe that will help her sleep longer ? I guess you'll just have to try different things until you find something that works.

She may not be sleeping restfully. Check to see that she isn't covering her head to block out light and subsequently reducing air flow and re-breathing carbon dioxide. This can cause headache and improper sleep resulting in grouchiness. Does she snore? That could also be effecting her sleep pattern if she has wakeful sleep it can make her grumpy. Both of these can be easily fixed, make sure the room is sufficiently dark and use a cool mist humidifier. The cool air is hydrating and has been shown to markedly improve sleep in children. If she stops breathing in her sleep for even brief intervals- let your Dr. know ASAP this can be a sign of a more serious condition.

My 4 year old daughter has always been like this. I decided to learn that this is how she is. She has always needed a nap and she usually wakes up grumpy. I have learned that she needs to either sit and watch some tv for half an hour or just sit and cuddle. She just needs that quiet time to wake up and get on her game again. Not everything a child does is a behavior issue- sometime it is just how they are and you can't change that.

I have this problem with my daughter a lot. When she was younger I blamed it on teething, but I think it was more that she was hungry. Maybe a blood-sugar thing. I found that when I give her a lunch with higher protein in it she is usually not as bad when she wakes up. When she wakes up and is cranky I usually rock her for a few minutes and give her a snack. That always seems to help.
Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be!

She might be too tired as a result of overstimulation. Try limiting her small activites to one a day (trip to the park, music class, grocery store) and limit big activities to one a week (trip to the zoo, beach, etc.). Her rapid growth at this rate can be overwhelming, so adding too many activities and outside stimuli can just annoy her. Keep her close to you and try not to plan too much. Just playing at home or a trip to the mall can be a full day for a toddler. She needs consistency and love -- and Mom is the best to give those to her.

The recurring varies in line with baby. you may want to wish to attempt to flow the ten AM nap to after lunch (make certain she is done from lunch) and enable her sleep as long as she will be able to. Then the three PM nap might want to be eliminated and also you may adjust evening sleep in accordance to how drained she is after dinner and bathing. you may want to be able to be versatile with the recurring yet this worked nicely for my daughter. organising a good recurring (dinner, bath, examining, brushing, kissing all the crammed animals) nightly and bedtime will fall into position many times.

Maybe she is sleeping too much? Perhaps cutting out the morning nap?
Or, subsituting a noon-ish nap for both?

1.Before sleep let the child listen to good music like sitar, sarod, flute, santoor etc. You can also sing to her good favourite songs.
2. After food let the child birp extra air from stomach.
3.Take the child for evening outing with you, let her see trees, birds, and other children sp. in parks.

Perhaps her sugar levels are low. Try giving her some juice when she first wakes up and see if it makes a difference.
