Alot of the Pakistani's are working WITH us, so I don't think that will ever happen. As a matter of fact, they just caught a terrorist ring there. Does anybody ever talk about the good things?

Pak was and is a strategic base which US had developed through increasingly taking advantage of Pakistan Geo-Political and economical state.

Sudden re-emergence of Pakistan as an important ally and base has been due to the "State of terror" brought down on world mostly causing damage to US. Given the strategic location, easy infiltration opportunities and geo-political significance enjoyed by Pakistan; US found its close ally very useful.

If Pakistan today decides to close its gates for the US troops it is well within its rights to do so. Pak is an independent state and in no way bound by US to do what the US wishes Pak to do. The US could do following -
- Declare war against anybody who does not help in the war against terror. This would mean anybody who is not with the US is its enemy. Will it do it?
- Sanctions against Pakistan? Well this could happen. But which country has not survived sanctions. People figure out a way.
- Use other countries as a base strategically shifting alliance. Possible options: Russia?China? India? All in close proximity of the said birth place of terror
- Exercise an alternative of full scale war and invasion - which is a very costly option....and might hurt US both economically and politically. It might cause some heads to roll and will become an election issue?

But let me re-iterate it is the whole and sole right of Pakistan to decide whether it wants to allow foreign troops (though of an ally) inside its border. Whichever way the ball rolls if it helps resolving the issue at hand, it would be an achievement for the entire world

They already do officially close their borders to US troops (I have no idea if US troops sneak in and out of Pakistan covertly).
