I personally like Luca better. Luca was the name of a doctor on ER and Darius is the name of the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish. But I still like Luca better.

It deoends what image of her son she'd like to project to a very superficial and prejudiced world.
I believe Darius brings out more of a picture of a strong, independant, tall dark handsome type.
Luca is more reminisent of a caring, gentle, but maybe not the steryotipical "manly".
Also, Luca may be a name-calling worthy name than Darius.

I like Luca...I think it's cute. But I would only use it if it worked with the baby's background (sounds spanish to me). Darius, on the other hand, sounds like a black name.

Unfortunately, Luca strongly reminds me of Luca Brasi - the horror person from Godfather. Since that book & movie were so powerful, the baby would have a tough time all his life living that name down. I wouldn't name any baby that.
Darius sounds lovely - the name of the young man in Les Miserables. A lovely man & name indeed.
