Conservatives - do you believe our current tactics in Iraq will produce peace any time soon?

Conservatives' main argument about Iraq seems to be that liberals aren't offering any better ideas.

So my question is simply, do you all think we are handling the situation correctly now? Do you see the violence ending this decade? Next decade?

If not, what's your plan?

Honestly, no....My plan would have been to NEVER go there....Now we are stuck with this mess and losing American lives.....It really depends on the next president and how he will handle the situation.....Hopefully, we will be done with this mess sooner, rather than later....

How about you tell me your plan. All i hear is fuss. 'I hate the patriot act, the NSA tapping, the border, war in Iraq' etc... and the ones who vote against it don't have a solution.

Iraq is a main front on terrorism. When we succeed there terrorism should subside. Now that's if this situation with Iran calms down because a vast majority of the problem is because of Iran helping in this 'war'.

I am not a conservative but i do believe we have to win in Iraq even if it takes 10 yrs. are more. We were totally wrong for invading Iraq and Bush an his Administration will pay the price as History will judge them but as a liberal we cannot let the people of Iraq down are let them just kill each as some suggest. As a liberal i believe in human rights and standing up for right.

If we started using US B-52s to bomb the "Sunni Triangle" and some isolated cities in W. Iraq the war would be over in 2 months or less. No more dead American troops, no more civil war, no more insurgency/terrorists, and most importantly many hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians would be saved because the US occupation would be over and the Iraqis would finally be able to run their own democracy.

Tactics and strategy have to be reevaluated anytime during war. The goal has to be to win. Then peace will follow. Cutting and running will not produce either, and it certainly won't keep the fighting off of our shores. Remember what they did to Nick Burg (or was it Berg?). They would just as soon do that to you here on American soil. Don't ever forget that.

I SEE MOST OF THE VIOLENCE ENDING NOVEMBER 8TH! THIS IS A POLITICAL PUSH BY THE INSURGENTS TO EFFECT OUR POLITICS. THERE IS ALSO THE WARING SHIITES AND SUNNI'S! THE PEACE HAS TO COME FROM WITHIN THE GOVERNMENT BODY OF IRAQ! AND THE PRESSURE FROM THE UNITED STATES AND ALLIES! THERE IS NO QUICK FIX,BUT TO WALK AWAY WILL BE DISASTROUS! AND THIS WILL ONLY LEAD TO WORSE PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD!

No, I think it's going to take time, a long time sadly, But I vote for other issues besides this "stuck on Iraq" thing.

I vote for freedom
I vote for immigration control, etc.......
Don't let this be about 1 thing only

Not soon. Thousands of years of culture can't be changed in a decade, but some change is inevitable from our actions. Maybe get them to concentrate on themselves, and try to improve their own lives ??
