If you are 3 or 50, you still have to join acting classes to build foundation on the very basic of acting. If you are really interest, i recommend you to open the yellow pages and search for acting schools. The courses you will receive are pretty fun. You will learn alot from your acting education and also you will be more confident. Even though some people are already born to be actors, but they too still join acting classes to build their foundation for their future career.

YOu can start by taking an acting class in high school. Join an organization of some kind, and if they want to put on a play, volunteer to perform in it. If you see an ad in the news paper that
a movie making company needs movie extras, call or go to the sing up booth and sign up. When I was an extra in the late 90s, the job paid $50.

Find a play and act. Keep auditioning until you get a part and continue to practice. Find any material to memorize until you have a huge repertoire of material to quote from. Quote regularly around actors and other aspiring actors so they think you are serious and never quit, ever, ever, ever. Go to acting school. The greater quality the better. Audition at Julliard even if you don't make it. Actors never quit and they are not afraid to fail. They hurt when they fail but they are not afraid of failure. They have to continue 24/7 for life if necessary. If you quit ever, you won't make it because the shadow of doubt will kill the spirit necessary to become an actor without self consciousness. Of course there are always exceptions but not many. I am not an actor for all the reasons I gave here.

Start right at your school. Get involved in the drama club, audition for any local performances that you might qualify for (plays where they need teen actors).
Once you've tried it out for a year or so, you'll know if thats really what you want to do with your life or not.
But the competition in acting is fierce so don't expect to make a living at it, have a back up plan!

Ask your parents to help you find an acting school. They can start by calling the universities and community colleges in your city to ask for recommendations on schools.
