if frank were here, he'd tell you he wasnt all that. but i see a lot of dupes are dissin' him. stupid. frank didn't try to make popular music. his influence on guitarists is HUGE. (steve vai was his protege, & still wouldn't make a pimple on his a**) it's a big world full of guitar players, but frank stands close to the top of the mountain

I would think that damn near anybody that has picked up a six string is better than Frank Zappa... Esteban kicks his ass! Plus Frank stuck the world with Dweezil.... so he loses more points there too! I would take Jimmy Page, Hendrix, SRV, Clapton is very technically sound... but in the process he loses so much emotion and feeling to me...

I like Zappa, don't get me wrong. But I think technically and inventively you gotta give it up for Clapton (longevity too) and Eddie Van Halen. Just my opinion.

He absolutely does not get the credit he deserves. Very 1st person I saw in concert (circa '75) and I have never seen any guitarist like that since. MOTHER F*N AMAZING! IMO he was a musical genius so far ahead of his and/or anyone elses' time but the critics could never give him his props. Too bad the younger crowd can't take the time to understand his music, talent & intelligence. I love (amongst many others): Willie the Pimp Mr. Green Genes Inca Roads Pojama People Pygmy Twilight Wind up Working in a Gas Station The Torture Never Stops Penguin in Bondage Crew **** Who are the Brain Police? Little House I Used to Live in My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar Son of Orange County Flakes Bobby Brown Goes Down Stinkfoot I'm the Slime Dirty Love I could go on and on.....and don't forget his ealier works, esp. w/the Mothers of Invention & Captain Beefheart. WILD :P "Give me, your dirty love, like some tacky little pamphlet in your daddy's bottom draw. Give me, your dirty love, I don't believe you've never seen his book before...."

your opinion, i cant see how you think he is technically better than a virtuoso like emmanuel, but i will give you that he is really not respected as well as he should be as a guitar player. His stuff is wierd, but in alot of tracks he just absolutely shines, saying he is the best is a matter of opinion, i would disagree - but your not crazy for thinking that he is the best

He was a brilliant musician but his guitar playing talent was marginal but you have to give the man credit, he wrote some great songs...."Broken Hearts are for A$$holes" is one of his best!!! Hope he's making God laugh now!!!!
