You are supposed to cut out at much cafine as possible during pregnancy. It is not good for the baby. I think its bad for the heart rate and oxygenation. I have looked into this a little myself because I too have a similar problem involving Starbucks coffee.

The lastest studies show that drinking 2-3 caffeine drinks a day dont really have a known effect on the fetus but, 5-6 makes you a higher risk for miscarriage. I drunk 2-3 pops a day with my son and delivered a healthy 8 pd. 1 ounce 22 inch baby. So just use your own judegement. Good luck.

everyone is going to tell you that cafeen is bad, witch is really is not good. But I have had two girls and am 27 weeks with a boy and have never had a problem. I am addicted to coca cola and have been for 7 years. I worked at a gas station and know how having access is so hard to slow it all down. Try cutting what you drink in half, and you should be ok. The energy drinks have to many additives to be good for anyone, but soda is ok if you try to slow down. I used to drink alot of soda while pregnant, and do now too. But just make sure that for every soda you have, you drink a glass of water to even it out. good luck

I have the same problem with Pepsi...what I wouldn't do for one right now!! I try to limit my daily intake to one. My husband swears all the caffine I had while pg with my first two is what made them mean. Of course he's kidding, and they're not mean, but he thinks I get too much. Honestly, I don't drink too much...and I think it's perfectly ok to have 2 or 3 a day. I would ask your dr, but I read an article that said there is no proof that caffine affects the baby, but be reasonable. I'm no dr...and neither was the article. :) Good luck and congrats on the baby!!

As long as you dont live on pop you're good. Of course caffeine isnt the best thing in the world but if you just cut it down is fine. If you're out at a restaurant having dinner you can have pop, it's FINE!!!!!!! I have two very healthy children and I drank pop and coffee -in small amounts during both of my pregnancies and so did my sister and she has an amazing 3 1/2 yr old. The key is everything in moderation.

I was advised by OB not to drink so much soda. Diet Soda sweetners (at the time when I was PG) was not researched much as the effects on the unborn. As for energy.....try eating fruit like apples or frozen grapes. I read an article that said the chewing sensation and teh pop pf juices in your mouth was a natural eye opener. Try it! If nothing else it is good for the baby!

I don't know the exact effects caffeine has on a baby. But I would assume it raises the heart rate and could possibly do some damage to the fetus. Since it is so forbidden. I would try other methods for getting more energy like snacking on nuts or some other high protein food while you work.

Most OBs recomended no more than 8oz of caffenine type drinks per day & NO energy drinks the caffine can make the babys heart race , which can lead to more problems. Try vitamins (talk w/ doctor to see which ones)

I am addicted to Dr. Pepper... I swear I went 6 years with having at least 1 a day.... I couldn't live without it!
But when I got pregnant, I thought I had to stop, and I did, because I wanted to be healthy for my baby....
But you can drink pop while pregnant, it isn't the most healthy drink, but you can, I would also suggest drinking an equal amount of water as pop...
Here is some articles for you!
