I am only 27 now, and I had always gotten pregnant when on birth control. Nothing seemed to work. I had 1 kid in '98, a miscarriage in '99, a molar pregnancy in '00, a kid in '01, and my last kid in feb '03. In June '03 I had a tubal ligation done. I was told by the doctor that everything went well with the surgery, but I don't truly believe they did. A few days after the surgery I noticed a discharge of what appeared to be dead skin. It was disgusting. I asked the doctor about it and he said that it was just a blood clot (I never saw one like that in my entire life, especially when there was no blood in it!). Anyways, I went home and called my doctor again two months later when my period did not return. I finally had a period in May '04, but my next did not come until Oct. '05. I have not had any since. My doctor tried to give me meds to start my period, but nothing has worked. Any ideas on what has happened? I do not want any sarcastic answers either.

Honestly, I never had tubal ligation, but I was having trouble with irregular periods and my doctor put me on HRT (horomone replacement therapy) for 30 days, then Progesterone and that combination seemed to work. But I do agree with the other messages that you really should get a second opinion. It just seems like your current doctor doesn't want to admit that he has no idea about your situation.

a girl well being care provider is knowledgeable in the sphere of drugs. this would not mean she is an sensible female on all subjects. i think of only by way of fact somebody is a physician or a criminal expert they are stereotyped into some style of "i'm smarter than you team". many women that are docs are married and have infants, only like all different female.

If you are not menstruating, it means that you are not ovulating. Ovulation happens when there is hormonal changes- let's not get too detail. You may have some hormonal imbalance- some wouldn't mind not having menses and they are comfortable with it. However if you are not comfortable and have undesirable symptoms- and wish to have menses again, your hormone needs to be regulated-by hormone pills or other methods advised by your gyne doctor. Not to worry about getting pregnant, you are safe from pregnancy 99% after tubal ligation.

I think maybe I would get a copy of your records and seek a 2nd opinion from another doctor. Apparently, your current dr. is not really sure either........hope you're ok.......

i would definitely get a second opinion from another doctor. this could be a hormone problem. best to have another doctor review your situation.
