You are correct. Interrupters are nonessential words or phrases in a sentence. This means that you could easily take that word or phrase out of the sentence, and the sentence would still make sense. You set off nonessential words or phrases with commas, kind of like you are giving them their own spectator box seats at a sporting event. They are set apart from the action, and don't have to be there for the action to take place, but, from there special seating section, they add a little "something extra" to the action.

Hope that helps. Maybe a little.

Along with the other comments here I would like to add that you do not need the word 'specific'. The reader already knows which culture you are talking about and no further clarification is needed. Many times we try to cram as much as we can into one sentence when we should really keep it simple for the sake of our message.

The commas are placed correctly.

You have placed the commas correctly. Incidentally, "you're," nor "your" is correct when you mean "you are"
