She sounds depressed. I'd tell the "friend" to lovingly try to engage her in outside activities, like walking or sports. I'd also advise him to lovingly suggest a trip to the doctor to rule out physical causes.

I would tell him he needs to give her an ultimatum. It's a good thing for one of the parents to stay at home and always have someone taking care of the house and kids when possible. But when a family's finances are becoming critical (as they sound in this case if he's working three jobs), both people need to step up to the plate and do everything they can to improve the situation. Someone with a CPA could bring in at least an extra 30 grand a year. So, he needs to tell her she's either going to help, or she can hit the friggin' road because he can't do it alone anymore. (And just a side note, she probably doesn't really love him if he's already working 3 jobs and she won't do anything...I work fulltime and so does my husband-he works up to 70 hours a week sometimes, there is NO WAY I'd let him get a 2nd job, it would be me because he's already exhausted working the extra 20-30 hours a week). Best wishes to your friend!

Not a darn thing. Although many see the problem, the one involved in it is stuck. No amount of trying to talk sense into him is going to work until he makes up his own mind.
My advice is MYOB!

That is their problem, dude. You maybe a friend but you do not know the ins and outs of their situation. WHo knows...maybe they had an agreement.

In other words, keep your nose out of their lives and mind your own business.

Nothing...it's his wife and if you try to say something it might ruin your relationship with your friend. She is lazy and I am sure he is aware of this, so having his friend tell him what he should do is not going to help anything. This is one of those things I think he has to do on his own.

I would boot her out the door, she can work atleast a job.no need for the guy to work 3 jobs. they must all be low paying jobs.

I would tell him he need to do something because it is not healthy for what he is doing. He needs to tell his wife to get off her *** and get a job. because it is not right for him to work and not her.
