kidnapping a child and holding them against their will. The person who I care about is aware of it. Why would they want to even associate with them?

Eeeek...that's kinda scarey....especially in today's world. If the person you care about is aware of it and still chooses to be associated with this person, then there's really not tooooo much you can do other that express your concerns and hope that they'll wise up.
Other than that, just be alert of anything they tell you about this person, you never know where/when (hopefully never) that info could be important.

No clue but that is kinda messed up! Yeah it's a Fantasy but the real question is, Is he capable of acting on that Fantasy.
