he can't help being a neat freak, so you might as well give up on him, the most you might be able to get him to do is some small thing off balance or a dirty plate, but that will be all he'll think about till he fixes it. so just let him be the cleaner and you can do other things. i wish my hubby would have some neat freakish in him, but he don't. we do have a friend who is an anal clean guy. we love to mess with him, and watch him tweak. we move pictures slightly off, or move nic nacs just a hair to the side and watch when he comes back in a room and sit and stare cus he knows somthing is off. don't feel like the slob of the relatonship eigher. its normal to have some clutter or have stuff a lil off, that makes it more homey and personal. remember that it is him who has the compulsive decease not you, and you are just fine.

I have found most people that are neat freaks are that way because they feel there are parts of their life that they have no control over. They maybe can't control their jobs, wives, kids, finances, whatever... so they obsess over cleanliness or the "right" way to do something. It may be true that he has a compulsive disorder, but that is rare... most of all his acting out about your sock drawer is hiding a lot of emotions that he does not feel able to share with you. You are not a pig, and he is not really concerned about carpet lint... I would try to get him to open up and talk to you more... Good Luck.

My husband has the same problem. If I pour myself a drink and leave it on the kitchen counter and step out of the room. When I go back the drink is down the drain and glass is in the dishwasher. We have been married for 11 years and he drives me crazy. He complains that I don't do as much as him but who has time to beat him to it. I told him he has OCD and he responded I have NO CD. I go around the house and move things out of place on purpose to make him mad. Thats my payback to him for driving me crazy. I don't think he has OCD I think he just always has to be busy. I'm a nurse not a doctor what the heck do I know. LOL.

how ironic - my man is "swiffering the bed". a 15 minute process of using a towel to "swiffer" the dust from the sheets, pillows, comforter. he does this every night before we can go to bed. even if i make the bed that morning (which i don't do anymore). how do i deal with it? laugh and know that i can eat cookies in bed while he is at work and the sheets will feel laundry fresh when i crawl in them at night.
let the little things go, it just isn't worth it. besides, we all have some little thing that drives the rest of the universe crazy!

Get down on your knees and thank God for him. Many women would die for a husband who realized he tracked the Everglades into the house.
This probably a part of his family heritage. One of the reasons he picked you was so he could act it out and another part was so you would gently loosen him up.
When you are done with him Thursday night - could you send him over? I'm tired of cleaning the carpet and my wife won't let me carry the vacuum upstairs.

This sounds like he's a bit obsessive compulsive. Which by the way is considered a mental disease. Maybe he needs to seek therapy for it. Many people suffer from it. But it is very difficult to live with someone like this.

OMG you have the perfect opportunity to really f-ck with his head. If i were you I wouldn't pass this up. No but really my husband waits until the dust bunnies turn into live animals before he even notices or picks up the broom.
