Ok I have the right answer, but I will award the best answer to the person who can name the park in which the republican party's first convention was held. (It is now a park.)

OK, I guess I need to clarify my question, I was not talking about the birth of this country, but of the republican party, yes the same on in which Bush is a member. The name of the park in which the republican party was created is called "Under The Oaks" in Jackson Michigan. It is now a very small little peice of a park with nothing more than a few benchs and a big oak tree that is the tree under which the republican party was created on a state and national level. It is surrounded by houses in an low income part of the city. (Kind of makes you wonder if the city is run by democrats?) Thanks for all your answers, and yes, this was kind of a hard one. So the best answer is awarded t o the person with the first right answer.

According to the sign when you enter the town, its Ripon, WIsconsin. Apparently, Ripon had the first county convention for the party in March of 1854, and Jackson, Michigan had the first state convention in July of the same year.

The Ripon meeting was in "the Little White Schoolhouse" and the Jackson meeting was in an oak grove "Morgan's Fourty" outside of town. There is a historical marker called "Under the Oaks" -- not sure if its a park.

I have so many problems with this question. In how its asked...it assumes too much. But it's only 'cause I have a little knowledge about the Republican party that my botheredness comes from...Anyway. The ORIGINAL Republican party of this country was not what included Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr. That's not where it started. The Republican party circa the birth of this country was of a very different form. Lincoln was a republican, in favor of anti-slavery too, imagine that! As for the freakin park? Well I don't know. I would think that its old...Arlington Park? That's my best guess.Ohh, tell us please!

Heritage Park
"This park is located on State Street next to Crystal Creek. It was born out of an effort to celebrate Ripon's heritage as birthplace of the Republican Party and shows the outline of an elephant out of arbivitae."
