I love to go. It is like a show. I usually have most of my shopping done in October but hold out a little just for this. Last year I saw three fist fights and several yelling matches at Wal-Mart. My own cart full of deals got stolen when I turned away! I saw the person and they were trying to run and push through the crowd, LOL. I just got another basket, they weren't even out of what I had in there. Thank God I always carry my purse!

Ironically, in our house it's my husband who sneaks out of the house before anyone wakes up that Friday morning and heads to the stores. I'm very meticulous about making lists for each of the children (we have four, ages: 12,7,5 and 2) because I don't like overbuying and "spoiling" them. I prefer a balance between commercialism and the true meaning of the holiday. But EVERY YEAR my husband goes out and totally overbuys on the toys, electronics, DVDs and video games. Some of it gets returned but the kids definitely get more than they really need each year. Still, you should see the smile on my husband's face when he sneaks back into the house with all the loot and treasures he's found. That almost makes it worth it since he's known to be a bit of a Grumpy Gus the rest of the year.

I work at a Staples )TM) store, where we sell office supplies, computers, phones, furniture, and paper products, and the day after Thanksgiving is known as "Green Friday," due to the fact that business will be booming. Doors open at 7 AM, so I'd arrive to work by 6:30 AM to start my shift and see all these people lined up in the cold, waiting to come in and shop! We have great deals on red and green ticket items our managers have designated, so there won't be any confusion or any problems with not having that item in stock.

Heck yeah. I'm right there with you. Mom and I are in the mall as soon as it opens. It's become a holiday tradition. Thanksgiving night all the women sit around with the sales papers and make lists of what we want to get. We make some phone calls to see what others want for Christmas. Then we map out the most efficient route to carry out our game plan. Back in college, my best friend and I got to the mall like five hours before it opened just to stand in line for a "Fur-real kitty." They were selling for twice their value on ebay, so we wanted to make a profit. (We only ended up making a couple bucks, but it was worth the memories.) This lady tried to jump in at the front of the line once the doors were open, and there were ladies screaming, "She's trying to cut!!" We linked arms and held out our elbows, lest we be the ones who let the cutter in. It's pure madness at these sales.

I wasn't shopping, but I was out there. I work in retail so we had to be there at 5:00am, for you early birds. It's really no fun having to leave the Thanksgiving Festivities, to go home and get some sleep, so I can be to work at 5:00am.
I agree with your husband, you and the half million other people are crazy standing in line at 4:30am to shop.

I like to shop the day after on Black Friday. Last year - I even got my husband out in it. Then after we shopped, we got home about noon, had leftovers for lunch & spent the rest of the afternoon decorating the front yard with Christmas stuff. For some reason, he was really into Christmas last year!!! Hope it happens this year too!!

I have 6 sister and 3 brothers! 5 sisters will go and probably just 2 brothers and their spouses and one girlfriend, and several nieces and nephews will go! Mom usually goes too! Not in the same car! We all plan ahead and take cell phones! We usually start in neighboring towns and then meet up for lunch. We also have our Big Thanksgiving Meal on Friday evening! (We all go to spouses family on Thursday. Mom and Dad have a quiet meal together!)

I ususally end up not getting my Christmas shopping done though! I end up shopping for myself!

I do but mostly for toys for tots.. so i can get alot for them.. I just don't think ANY child should go without gifts so i spend like 200.00-300.00 if i can and then I bring it to the Marine office that does Toys for Tots. I don't have any children but i have nieces and nephews and I'm usually done by October shopping. They were actually waiting for me last year because they helped empty the car lat year, which i was grateful. The other one that I shop for is my husband, cause he's just so hard to shop for.

I have never been shopping the day after thanksgiving b'cuz i always end up having to work (it sucks) but you know what, i don't think i'd want to go shopping on that day. . . there's too much madness on that day, i end up reading about it on the paper the following day. Yes there is a lot of great deals, but I don't think i'd survive very long.
