File for divorce in your current county of residence. Your spouse will have to answer the divorce action and/or counterfile (if that is going to happen) also in your county of residence.

You can file for divorce anywhere. I actually got mine through a newspaper ad and didn't pay more than $400. for the whole thing. They tell you what to do each step of the way. It's going to court, getting a lawyer, and going to hearings, where the money adds up.
