I crawled under my truck tonight to connect the trailer lights. I looked between my two rear tires and above the differential. My
spare truck tire was absolutely gone!!!! Has this ever happened to you? I swear I don't know when this happened or where it happened or who did it. I am really steamed.

JC Whitney sells locks for that reason. I had the same problem.
It was a a tire that had been rotated, and was well worn, but I was pretty mad too. I didn't know mine was gone until I got a flat in the Arizona desert. A piece of advice for you...... They sell tailgate locks too. My tailgate was stolen 2 weeks after getting the flat.
Get a used tire and wheel, and just keep that one for a spare.
Sorry about you luck, but at least you found out before you needed your spare.

That is why they offer spare tire locks.
It's been happening for many years.
I came to work 1 morning and found every new truck on the lot had the spare tire cable hanging down. Over 40 tires/wheels missing. We have locks on them now.

May have not been stolen and just broke away from rusty parts! I see them all the time along the highway from pick-ups and tractor trailers! Those under vehicle tire racks are basically junk! I see vehicles in my shop 3-4 years old with them rusted right off the vehicle because the states went from a sand/salt mixture to an all Calcium Chloride which destroys a vehicle in no time! We won't even discuss what it does to the highways as you can probably tell just driving your vehicle on them!!!!!!!!! But I'm not saying we don't have a few thieves in the land!

Yes, I heard this along time ago. Thats why you see bike cable locks around spare tires in some areas.

Never had it happen, but isn't it a good thing that it was the spare, and not one of your primary tires? Yikes!

It happened to a friend of mine once. He wasn't as lucky as you, he didn't find out until he had a flat and needed the thing.
