What exactly does it mean to you? Because people say it means "ignorant black person," though some people take it in another way. Also, why do YOU feel black people don't appreciate it when "certain" people make use of the word.
By the way, I'm black myself, and I feel like no one should use the word. But, I'd rather just black people use it than any other race.
It seems as though a lot of people say it to be cool. I hear mexicans/hispanics say it more than black people at school sometimes, and it irritates me. Not to offend them, it's just, stop saying it.

I hate the "N" word. I think that it is so degrading. If a person is trash, then call them trash. As far as the comment about only black people should use the word, why would you want to degrade your heritage like that? It always confuses me as to why black people call each other the N word, I don't hear many white or hispanic people degrading their heritage with words like cracker or wet back. Be proud of who you are, and always remember that we all bleed red.

There was a person that did a speech on this topic in my class. I don't think that anybody should say it because some many people in black history have tried to make things better for us today, and to get people to stop calling us that. Some black people say it to each other to be cool, but its not. We are all who we are and a "N" doesent have to be one of them.

I personally don't care for the word and refrain from using it whenever possible. I think it's like a "brotherhood" kind of deal between black people. I dunno... You have every right to be offended by the word. It's not very nice, and it shows no respect for anybody when it's said. Although, different cultures have different beliefs about what the word means, go with what your culture believes, or what you yourself believe. That's what I would do, personally.

I just find it funny how the N word used to mean a compliment. But this was many upon many centuries ago. Now we refer it as the N word instead of just saying ****** because of its incredibly strong stigma. Well unless you are a black comic then you say it as often as you say hello.

i tell people don't call me the n word. i prefer to be called by my name, and nothing more. it is an insult, and i don't go around calling people names so i am not expecting to be called anything. i personally think that blacks don't appreciate it because of the slavery issue.

To me the N word isn't about race. Its anyone who is black, white, mexican, etc, who is a lazy piece of junk, who does drugs and **** like that. Pretty much the scum of society.
