urine test for urinary tract infection but not one for preghancy. then she prescribed bactrim (she still doesn't know what the results of the urine tests are). bactrim is not good to take if i'm pregnant. now what? why wouldn't she prescribe a pregnancy test with the symptoms I told her? and wouldn't she want to find out if i'm prego first before prescribing a pregnancy category C drug? i had urgency and frequency with my first pregnancy, so maybe i'm preggo..... ?? My next period is not due till nov 3.

I would not take the med until you get the results. For one because you may be prego, and secondly it could be nothing. I don't know if you live in a colder climate, but I do and when it starts to get colder I urinate more. Because your body does not require as much water to sweat. And docs over prescribe meds to people who don't even need them all the time. Also some women tend to urinate frequently and urgently before there periods.

You can always consult with another doctor - that's what I would do if I ever felt uncomfortable.

It's too soon for a urine test for pregnancy though you could get a HPT and take that in a couple of days, then you'd know for sure.

Why is it a Catagory C? She might know something you don't. Again, you can always get a second opinion.

Ya, she should have tested. I had a kidney infection. I called the doctor and told her that I was also Trying To Conceive. They didn't perform a test on me, but because I stated that, when I picked up the prescription, it said that I could take it while being pregnant. When they did a check up, the doctor said that when a women said they were TTC, they will give them a prescription that is safe to us in case they do get pregnant. I would call the doctor.

I have severe problems with UTIs especially during pregnancy. The best medication to take is Macrobid or Keflex. I was on Keflex everyday with my last pregnancy. I am currently on Macrobid for an infection. Just tell her you want to be switched. There are a tons of antibiotics out there, and a handful safe for pregancy. This shouldn't be an issue with her. They can switch it to one of those, then when they get your culture sensitivity back, they can put you on a different one if need be. Just call her!!! Switching isn't a problem!

If in doubt get yourself a second opinion. I would have through she would make sure you aren't pregnant before she gave you a prescription however i am not a doctor! Ask her to give you a blood test just to make sure before you start your antibiodics. If she won't, find a doctor that will.

Good luck! I hope you are pregnant!! :)
