The greatest single season team in NBA history was the 1985-86 Boston Celtics. They would have mopped the floor up with ANY of Jordan's Bulls teams.
Actually, all of the Celtic and Laker teams from the 1980's would have destroyed the Bulls.
They had the greatest starting frontcourt in history (Bird, McHale, and Parish, all hall of famers), an excellent backcourt in Ainge and Dennis Johnson, and the greatest backup center of all time in Bill Walton.
They went 67-15 in the regular season, including 40-1 at home (still a record), and 15-3 in the playoffs (10-0 at home...that's a 50-1 home record in one season!). Even the 96 Bulls couldn't match their home record!
The only other teams in history that MIGHT have given them trouble would be:
86-87 Lakers...probably Magic's best team
82-83 76ers... Dr. J, Moses Malone, & Celtic killer Andrew Toney
66-67 76ers..Wilt, Hal Greer, Luke Jackson probably the 2nd best
71-72 Lakers.. Wilt, West, Goodrich..33 reg. season win streak
Any of these teams would absolutely crush the 1990's Bulls. Keep in mind, that when Chicago won their championships, Bird & Magic were gone, and thanks to expansion, the league became watered-down. The Bulls would have been lucky to win 50 games in the 1980's.

the lakers have never been a bad team. many championships and have almost always made it to the playoffs. they have had many all stars and mvps. they had the best centers in the history of the game shaq is just one. wilt chamberlain. and many others. they are currently under great coaching and have the best player in the nba. they have had historic players like elgin baylor, jerry west, james worthy, kareem abdul jabar. the only team that could be compared to the lakers is the celtics but lakers are a lot better than the celtics.

The 72-10 Chicago Bulls team. Jordan and Pippen were in the prime of their careers and the complimentary players (Rodman, Kerr, Longley, Harper)knew their roles in Phil Jackson's triangle offense which made them...well, unbeatable!
