Oh yes. Many spices were discovered at that time and brought back to Europe. Also, some cloths disovered and some ways of accounting and math from the Near East. Extended trade routes and also disrupted Italy's monopoly on trade, especially Genoa and Venice.

No pros that I can think of. Con's perpetuating warfare between christians and muslims.
