Many times in different restaurants, we see on the menus the term " all dressed ". for pizza, hamburgers, hot-dogs, etc...". I was wondering where that term has originated from to designate food. Does anyone know? I was in Ontario and people didn't seem to understand what I was talking about... I believe in the U.S. they would ask for " the works ". meaning everything they could put in them I supposed.

I then that means, everything, onions, tomatoes, etc.

When I saw the question, I clicked on the link hoping to find out whether the ruffles on a diner's cummerbund go with the open side up or down. It's a mystery I've been trying to solve for a while. Oh well.
