It started with Africans, then the Arabs, then a little while later Europeans but it was the Europeans who developed the idea that black skinned people were inferior and therefore okay for enslavement.

Slavery is not just about Africans - every race has been (or is being) enslaved.

But to answer the African question specifically - it was Africans who sold Africans to the slave traders. Arabs did some slave raiding, but it was African political unrest and tribal warfare that provided the bulk of the African slaves.

African unrest still fuels a brisk slave trade there - African slaves in large numbers are currently being bought and sold by Africans.

the africans were sold into slavery by other africans, and besides, the poorest black in america is better off than if his relatives were never bought here....
