-2/-2...when in doubt multiply it back together to check your answer
-2 x what = -2....the answer is a positive 1 of course
-2(1)= -2 yeppers, it checks out
a negative times a negative is a positive
so 4/-2= -2...check it -2(-2)=4
a positive times a positive is a positive
so 4/2=2 ...check 2(2)=4
a negative times a positive is a negative .....negative attitudes are catching, right?
so -4/2= -2....check 2(-2)= -4
when adding
negative + negative= negative
negative + positive= subtract these and use which ever sign has the bigger number
positive + positive= positive

Lots of good answers. In general, it is best to call infinity/infinity (or infinity - infinity) "undefined". Here is some motivation for this. You probably know that 2*infinity = infinity. So then if you had: 2*infinity/infinity, depending on the order of operations, you could get 1 or 2. Similarly, you know that infinity*infinity = infinity, so if you had infinity*infinity/infinity you could get infinity or 1 (or any other answer) depending upon your order of operations. So that is why it is best to call these things "undefined" since there are many plausible answers. If you want to get more rigorous about these things, you can use limits. L'hopital's rule will help you with dividing infinities. Also in set theory or some other fun class, you can learn fun stuff like the number of integers is the same as the number of rational numbers, but the number of real numbers if larger. Marvin Gardner has a great book, which a believe is called Aha! Gotcha!, but might be called Aha! Insight!, which explains infinities with some comically primative cartoons =)

When the signs are the same, the answer is positive when mutliplying or dividing.
If the signs are different, the answer is negative when multiplying or dividing.
