Seems like you have some sort of joint effusion. You may have torn a ligament, or perhaps torn the meniscus in you knee. It would be very benificial to have a MRI done on your knee now , befor it gets any worse and you have to have major surgery when you get older.....I'm a MRI/CT Technologist. Good luck

If your knee hurts mostly when you walk, it is possible that you have damaged or deterioration of the meniscus. That is the cushioning material in the knee. It prevents bone on bone contact. An MRI of the knee would show this. Simple surgery can repair this. See another Doctor and ask him if that is possibly your problem. Could be arthritis forming in the knee.

Good luck

Sound like you have what they call water on the knee, actually common to football players. That is why the antiinflammatory works and why it is worse during your "cycle." When you retain water. The best thing I can offer is, other than surgery, is that when this happens soak or wrap in in something very warm to move the water from behind your knee cap.....You did not say your age but I bet you hurt this while you were doing something atheletic.
