It will be extremely swollen. You will have to get a handbrace to keep it from getting bumped. Go to a clinic or doctor to have them check it out.

Did you injure it? Have you had an x-ray? I just found out that I have a cyst on one of my fingers at the first knuckle. It is causing serious pain when typing and other small medial tasks. The pain was so sudden that I thought that I injured my finger, yet I couldn't remember any incident. The x-ray showed a cyst that was derived from the newly diagnosed arthritis that I have in my fingers. You really need to see you family doctor.

Get an x-ray . I believe they may be able to tape it if it can't be casted . Some drug stores sell braces you can fit on a broken finger ;wrist ; etc.; but I'd get an x-ray . It could be dislocated ; and without proper diagnoses & treatment you may have a world of pain & problems with your hand .

You'd need to get an xray done. It could be something else too. They'd probably put a splint on it.
