We found out at around 3 weeks after conception. I hadn't even missed a period yet.

hCG hormone (the one your body makes when you're pregnant) appears in your urine within hours of conception. However, it takes a few days for it to reach a level that a home pregnancy test can detect. Some tests claim to work within 5-10 days of conception, but that's only if the woman is making enough hCG for it to work.
On average, most women can successfully use a home pregnancy test about 10 days after conception. If you want to know that soon, try the First Response brand; it makes one of the most sensitive tests on the market.

It would depend on what kind of a test you were taking. There is a blood test that can show pregnancy even before you miss your period. It is very sensitive and very accurate but you will have to get a doctor to order one and you usually would have to have a pretty good reason to need to know.
Urine tests are cheaper and you do not need a doctor to prescribe one. However depending on the one that you get, you have to be late for your period. Some tests are accurate when you are about 4 days late and others you will need to be more like 7 or 8 days late. If you do a urine test do it first thing in the morning when the levels of HCG are highest.
Good luck

There are digital tests that are also EARLY DETECTION tests. Those can be taken about 4 days prior to your period due date. EPT and ClearBlue Easy have great ones.
The box should tell you when you can take the test.
Also, get the ones with the words on them PREGNANT / NOT PREGNANT. The lines are too hard to read accurately.
I had to take 5 of them in my first pregnancy, then I still didn't believe them.

There are home pregnancy tests you can take a couple of DAYS, not weeks after conception. Ask your pharmacist.

about 4 weeks at the VERY earliest.... You have to buy the First Response tests (the one that says it detects the pregnancy hormone the earliest) or have your DR do a urine test. They can usually tell if the hormone is even present in your body.
