and don't hang with that person, fyi, not even my friend. that person keeps hanging around our department (or in other words, workmate)...the effort to walk out from his desk and stroll in our place, that's pathetic...

Ever heard of the phrase 'tunnel vision?'

Know-it-alls have tunnel vision. When a person is so hell-bent on something, he or she would see in tunnel vision (like looking through a pair of binoculars). Their view might appear magnified - but they are blinded to all else!

If the aggressor's behavior is more than just annoying - if it disrupts work - take it to the boss! Work disruption is inexcusable!

If your aggressor has high rank, pull together with a few friends/ colleagues. Get support.

If nobody can help, confront the aggressor and tell him/ her, 'Are you looking or something in this department? Look for what you're looking for and make it quick. I really need to get my work/ project done. If you need help, have you asked the boss?'

If the annoyance is only slight, try these phrases:

'Ok. Fine.'

'So, you reckon this could do the trick, aye?'

'We'll monitor its progress.'

'We'll keep you posted on its progress.'

Notice the nonchalant theme? Say it with an expressionless face. On the surface, everything looks fine - because you paint it that way!

I had one of those in my world and he drove me bonkers...thought he knew everything about EVERYTHING.
I got rid of him by talking with another person about motorcycles, I ride and work on my own bike. He knows little or nothing about bikes. When he chimed in I let him have it...told him, "no, that isn't how it goes"...or something to that effect. He got very embarrassed when the person I was talking to (who also knew bikes) agreed with me.
The "know it all" was quite the chauvinist pig and being slapped down by a girl over motorcycles was quite devastating.....
When you put your know it all in their place do it in public but don't be nasty...just KNOW your stuff!!!

I had a class with one of those types of people. be really patient and listen to every comment they make (listen for the mistakes), when they make a mistake and you know the true answer,(make sure u know the true answer) speak real loud and clear in front of a lot of people and put the person in their place. I did that with the person and she got so embarrassed she never spoke up again. especially after she tried to speak up in class (a class with a lot of unfortunate stupid kids who dont like know it alls) and these kids literally booed her until she sat down and realized nobody cared for what she said.

Oh I've been in this situation! You just tone them out....... nod and don't really listen to what they are saying......... because they are always trying to get you to argue with them so that they can try to brain wash you into thinking how they think. But if you don't listen and you don't argue than they are not accomplishing anything....... Don't give them any energy and don't really respond to anything they say,

You gotta blow them away. Just one good time. Let them know everything you just said in this question. Also let them know that if it doesnt stop you wont deal with it any longer.

well if they are annoying and CONSTANTLY following you..i would say something back to them in their tone.. like try to be smart back at them. if you tried that..
then i would just TELL THEM STRIAGHT out that they are DAMN annoying me.
i mean the truth hurts but if it benefits you and the other person its all good
good luck.
ciao for now

just totally ignore them. they probably really do know that they're talking s***. It is annoying, but once they realize you don't pay any attention to them, they realize that....they'll stop. if it is impossible to ignore them for any reason, just ask them, "so why do you think that?" that usually stumps them.
