Im not sure what the formula is, but if you do not know the answer dont make up crap. The altitude of right triangles is a line that intersects from a vertex and intersects another line at a right angle.

altitude = height, elevation above something like the ground or sea level, or base of a triangle (saw your edit).

Dropping down the height will form some right-angle triangles, so you should be able to use Pythagoras or trigonometry to find it out, depending which sides and angles you are given.

You need to be more specific. Is it to tell altitude above sea level by measuring barometric pressure? Is it to tell altitude of a shell fired from sea level with a specific velocity by a gun pointing upward?
