first off you have to be able to show that you are going to be able to support yourself. Then you go to the courthouse and file for emancipation. It is a very simple process. You can even possibly get legal aide to help you but they dont do that in all states. But, as long as you can show that you can support yourself they will emancipate you. It takes 2 court apperances and then it is done.

Emancipation laws vary by state and not all states have an emancipation statute, which doesn’t mean that you can’t petition for it, because you can pretty ask the court for whatever you want, but in those states there is no actual ‘procedure’ in place.

You need to check the laws of your state. At a minimum you would be required to prove that you are capable of fully supporting yourself--paying for rent/utilities/food/medical expenses/etc with no assistance from anyone. You would also have to provide a *valid* reason that emancipation would be in your best interest. The court could require other things as well.

The court can deny emancipation for any reason that it sees fit, including, but not limited to, their belief that you lack the maturity/ability to function as an adult.

Generally speaking, it is not a quick or easy process, and more often than not, it is denied.

I would say that if you wanted to become emancipated, go talk to a lawyer, but it is most likely impossible to be emancipated from your parents because you would have to prove to a judge that you can survive on your own without financial help from your parents.

quit school, move out on your own, have your parent petition the court, but I have a question to you....why would you want to be emancipated? to quit school would ruin your life, trying to get a job without an education that you could support yourself would be very difficult, and having your parent petition the court to do so may not be of there choosing. Think about it.

If you need protection from abuse, call the police or sheriff right away. If it's a personality conflict, it's a pretty complicated process. Can you live with a responsible adult relative for a bit to let things cool off? If you want to go through the process find an attorney who can specify what you need to do.
