It seems to me every instance in life is a chance to help someone or hurt them. Why do so many people choose to tear people down instead of building them up?

Because its easier to hate than it is to love. Loving means you actually have to put forth the effort to put someone before yourself. Humans are selfish and self absorbed for the most part and the effort it takes to to view everyone else as no different and no better than yourself takes time and hard work.

Fear is soul crippling, and intolerance, ignorance and hate are born out of fear.

Risk love.

I wonder this too, and you see it a lot here. If it isn't to make them feel horrible enough, I see people making very rude remarks about their spelling, grammar, "stupid" questions......I wish I knew what makes some people not care so much.......or be so rude. I guess this is used as an outlet for anger and frustration for some...so maybe they are the ones that need to ask more questions?

Speaking of my late partner's vile family. They hated us because we were gay. They showed utter contempt for their daughter when she died and as a result, nearly destroyed me as well.
If I could understand what drives these people I think I would put up a sign like Lucy's
" The psychiatrist is in "*
Chin up, as my brother would say, "The bastards will not win in the end."

If you think it's bad in this section go on the religious section. That is where you should be asking this question. I have never seen so much hate and anger as I do there...but your right, there is to much hate...

That's what these people are used to. They're so used to receiving hate from almost everbody in their immediate society that it becomes innate for them to spread all this hate around. Sad, but true.
