I've even seen some liberals talk about how they support a missle defense.

After I got done laughing, I was wondering since when?

Dear Troll, Because they know a lost cause when they see one. Bush had no plan whatsoever and underestimated the strength of the enemy. Bush thought it would be an easy grab for oil and No one could care less about whether Iraqis live in a democracy not even the Iraqi people. The Iraqi people will always be sheep just like the flip flopping Republicans who are going back to vote Democrat again. Bush and all Republicans are cutting and running. Bush is a fool, an ignorant hillbilly and the nation followed him because of them being even more stupid. I guess people are tired of seeing their children coming home in body bags for a lost cause that was poorly thought out. By the way Bush is not a true conservative nor does he represent a true Republican. Never did never will.

I'm not so sure that they normally do. Enough democrats went along with the war. However, they have felt that they were misled (a polite way of saying lied to) by the president. They have come to believe that the war against Iraq was an unjust one and, therefore, the loss of life on both sides is tragically wrong. They still believe that we should be in Afghanistan as that is where the 9/11 terrorists came from and that all of our military funds should have gone into that war. As it is the military budget is over strained. It is because of the unjust war that they no longer want to waste our money in Iraq. Enough Republicans have come to their way of thinking and less than 50% of Americans feel the same way.

Actually, it was George Bush Sr. that began defense cuts and base closures back in 1992 right after the first Gulf War. I know this because I myself was given the opportunity to get out of the military with an early out bonus back then.

Uhm Bush is cutting 40,000 Airmen. We work 12 hours a day 6 days a week keeping supply jets fueled. Deployed we work 16 hours a day 6 days a week.

It's not liberals... Don't vote for a party, vote for a man.

Stop acting like a child!

Dick Cheney killed numerous projects when he was Secretary of Defense.

The Navy and Air Force continue to downsize under Bush / Rumsfeld.

The Democratic controlled Congress spent enormous amounts of money during the Carter / Reagan miltary buildup.

Bush cut military spending, pay for troops, closed veteran's facilities & never served in the military. (Being too drunk to fly a plane in a defunct facility doesn't count)

Cutting and running is an idiotic idea, but so is staying the course. We've got to adapt our strategy and let the generals that understand and have experienced the situation to set a more appropriate course of action.

I think that they tend to cut the defense budget in order to spend those dollars on entitlement programs like HUD, welfare, etc. This is to 'buy' votes and keep them in power.

Hasn't worked too well lately. LOL

The reality is that they don't really do this. It's just republican obfuscation. But good job spouting the party line, maybe someday you'll actually have an original thought.
