im doing a research on statistics of nonalcohol/drug addictive conselor v.s recovering addict working in the field of drug/alcohol conselor. I basically like to know which conselor could be or would be more effective and why? thank you

it takes all kinds of people to make this world, so each type of counselor helps some. people new to recovery can generally relate to someone who has been on the same road. after time they may turn to a non adict for different point of view.

well, one in recovery of course. Been to IOP and just couldn't relate at all to nonalcoholic/addict counselors. They just DO NOT get it no matter how much book smarts they might have.

A counselor in recovery
I'm a non-addict counselor....and the clients don't seem to open up with me as well as they do with the other recovered counselors......They say thing like......"what do you know, your a normie"
