the problem in your scenario is the victim in question had plenty of time to LEAVE, but instead stuck around in an abusive relationship. so when the killing happens there are those who are sympathetic to the "victim", and such will cut her/him a break and call it temporary insanity or in the heat of passion killing. either way it serves to give a modus stamp of approval to such killing and further reinforce the notion that the "victim" ( in most cases a women ) are indeed frail and weak, a total contrary postion to the modern feminist who insist given equal quarter to men, but when this issue comes up suddenly they are frail helpless women. perosnally i do not buy into that, they always stick around and thus get the abuse that comes with it, i do not condone abuse nor the killing of a spouse / abuser simply because one did not exercise their personal responsibility of self preservation and good mental health.

I think that's just an excuse. Everytime something happens in someones life, people always say it's because of this or that in their past. Why can't you just be responsible or held accountable for your own reactions without leaning on excuses. I was a victim of domestic violence and because of that, I want to be a better person and not put someone through what I went through.

Need more facts.

If the victim's response occurs as a timely response to an attack, then it is self-defense.

If the victim plans it as a response to a long on-going abusive relationship and stabs a sleeping person in the ear with a screwdriver, then it is murder.

Simple answer: Hit me once, go to jail. Hit me twice, I leave.

You don't beat the ones you love.

If they feel their life is in danger, then of course.

please reword your question as you have already said the person first most is the victim and you are contradicting your question
