get them a present at the shower. if you don't go to the shower then when the baby is born give them something.

No, no , no. Never. Too early and first pregnancies are common to misscarry. Just give her a big hug and tell her you are so happy for her and put away some money for a splendid gift at the baby shower further down in the pregnancy :)

Get them a present when you are invited to the baby shower. If there is one. Otherwise, just use your instinct to determine whether there is any reason not to give them a present.

What are their ages? Are they wedded? A present is hardly necessary for this occasion. Before the baby (another illegitimate child) is born, give them a gift for the child & maybe one for the new mum to pamper herself.

Sure, why not? Throw a party in their favor. Life is too short to judge. Plus, wouldn't you want presents from them if was reversed? This way you you don't havew to give a present when they get married....LOL.

My best friend gave me a card and a bunch of flowers to say congratulations.
It's a simple unobtrusive gift, you can wait till later to get something for the wee one, and it'll be better because you can ask if there is anything they might need.

Give them a babytoy and some food to help start them off, and some comfort food to soothe the pain while having the baby.

Ya, like a baby planner or a fun fruit basket would be nice. Nothing too expensive, 'cause you'll be spending plenty of money on them and the baby soon!

when they have a baby shower, that's the right time. if that's not possible, bring a gift with you the first time you visit them after the shower or after the baby is born. i would wait until the baby is born because knowing the gender can get you some brownie points with your friend and his gf.

Wait until it's a little closer to her due date. Also, they'll probably have a shower then, which is the best time for a gift.
