A collective noun would be something like "children" -- a single word that refers to more than one item
An abstract noun would be something like "love" -- it's a thing, but it's not something concrete that you can hold; it's not a three-dimensional thing that has a shape and form and weight
Hope that helped!

Collective nouns are nouns that encompass an entire group, such as bears, people, them, etc. Those are three examples of collective nouns.
Abstract nouns are nouns that stand for abstract ideas that are not physical. For example, symbolism, feeling, mercy, etc.
Hope this helps!
