What a facinating question! I think people are sad at funerals not for the loss of the individual who died, but the empty feelings that those who knew the deceased feel when the realizaion that you will never be in their company again sinks in. I myself want people to be happy at my funeral beacuse I've gone to a "better place" but the reality is if I have lived my life the way I want, people will truly miss seeing me and being around me. SO in essence it is a purley selfish instinct to be sad that another is gone, because it is YOU who are missing the joy of that person, and not the other way around. Just my thoughts ;)

OH, as for fun things to do, get creamated and take the ashes and turn them into a coral reef to sustain aquatic life. Or have your ashes pressurized into a diamond (people are actually doing this now) so your body will last forever in beauty.

And have these 'everyone' been happy at someone else's funeral? It is the loss, most times. However, in other instances, especially for people who's lives are integrated with traditional beliefs, maybe being happy and bright can be considered disrespectful.

I'm thinking maybe hire an artist and get them to immortalise you by drawing a picture of you using your ashes and special gluing them on a canvas. Then even in death, you're smiling.

I have told my family that I would like a joke said at my funeral. I believe it is right to grieve for the lose of the person but also think they have been promoted into eternity. Hopefully they will be happy there

I don't understand it either.... I want people to be happy at my funeral. My religion gives me solace. The day of my death is the day I repay God back for the sins I've amassed during life. Hopefully if I've found favor in his eyes he may remember me and resurrect me for a judgment of life but if not dead is dead.

I don't want a fancy funeral. They can just chuck me in a hole and fill it in what will I care I'm dead.

When I read the news paper, amy obituary will read Sad Demise everything SAD.

It is sad because when the person was alive you not lived fully well with the (now) death person.

u have not enjoyed the experience he had in his life, and wanted to tell you. u (maybe) ignored.

u may not have helped him in his task, which was so easy for u.

the wealth he wanted to be inherited may not be u.

he may have wanted to show u some light of life, which u did not understand then, but realise now.............the list is very very very long.

We are sad because of the memories spent with the deceased in his/her lifetime. We cry because we no longer can share our live with him/her.

There no fun ways to go at the funeral. It's natural to cry at funerals.

Provide a Keg at the burial! Depends on the person that is dying, what they liked and how they lived.

that we shall never see and enjoy the presence of this loved one that went on the most mysterious of all trips.
